Meet The Doctor

Dr. Russell Heller - Your community based provider.

Since I would be asking you some personal information when you come to my office, it’s only fair that I reveal some information about myself first!

I was born and raised in rural, northeast Nebraska. I can remember growing up, my family utilizing chiropractic care for various problems. My first experience with chiropractic came in 1976 after an athletic injury in high school. Being involved in football and wrestling in high school and college and growing up on a farm were physically taxing on my body. Upon experiencing the many benefits of regular chiropractic care, I was inspired by the results and the health philosophy of chiropractic to become a doctor of chiropractic myself. I UNDERSTAND the effects of athletic injuries and a demanding lifestyle of physical labor and the importance of function and balance on health and performance.

My Chiropractic Education

I began my pre-chiropractic education at Dana College and Wayne State College where I studied the basic sciences such as chemistry, physics and biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses. After completing my studies there, I was accepted at Cleveland College of Chiropractic in Kansas City, Missouri. During my four years at Cleveland, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Cleveland College Public Clinic.

Of course, I still enjoy attending a variety of post graduate education classes to satisfy my love of learning and my desire to deliver the most effective, up to date therapeutic practices and procedures to my patients. I have a particular interest in working with chronic conditions of the joints, the muscles the tendons and disks and have studied many hours in the application of nutrition, advanced therapeutics and exercises to help improve those conditions. Those same areas of study have also been helpful in managing traumatic injuries and sports injuries in my practice. In 1998, I also received my 100 hour certification in acupuncture.  In 2011 I became the first and only (currently) provider in Nebraska certified in Advanced Biostructural CorrectionTM  (ABC*).  I sought certification in ABC because of the results seen from other providers around the country.  Never before had I been able to make the corrections to my patients body’s as I have seen with ABC*.  I truly believe that we can make the types of changes in your body and your health that other providers can only talk about.

On a Personal Note…

I married my high school sweetheart, Monica, in 1984. I graduated in 1990 from Cleveland College of Chiropractic in Kansas City. My

Family

chiropractic career began in Nebraska City where I associated with another doctor of chiropractic from 1991 to 1993. We have three wonderful children, Kathryn, Matthew and William.

We have called David City home since 1993 after accepting a managing, associate position at Hinze Chiropractic Center, which later became David City Chiropractic Center. In January of 2011, I purchased the practice making it a locally owned, family business while continuing to offer the best services possible.

My family and I have very much enjoyed living in David City and being involved in the community. My past involvement in the Jaycee’s and Rotary club as well as my current involvement in the Chamber of Commerce and my church has been quite rewarding. I enjoy spending my free time working with my hands; gardening, yard work, woodworking, computer maintenance as well as just experiencing the outdoors and of course spending time with my family.

The chiropractic lifestyle is important to me and my family. I still see my chiropractor once or twice a month and do daily stretching to maintain my flexibility and function. My wife and children also get adjusted on a regular basis. Chiropractic care along with nutrition and acupuncture, keeps our nervous systems interference free, our immune systems stronger and we don’t seem to take as long to recover from the “bugs” that go around. My family has probably filled only a handful of prescriptions in the past two decades and have ceased all vaccinations for our children! (If that sounds interesting, I’d love to discuss it with you.)

Let me explain what chiropractic care can do for you!
